Kita BiLLY
EURO 2016
Football in Jena for the BiLLY preschool children. 13 children and 2 members of staff travelled to the FC Carl Zeiss stadium this week to learn more about the beautiful game. The children had a list of tasks to complete, formulated questions that they could ask at the club and with clip boards made observations and drawings at the stadium. The children had to record if the stadium was an open or enclosed space. Count how many steps there are from the top to bottom of the main stand. If people sit or stand at the stadium and what facilities there are for visitors. The turnstiles were very popular and the children were able to discuss and decide amongst themselves if going through together was possible and then try it out. The children were shown the dressing room for the team and the tunnel that leads to the pitch. There were more than 11 places and the children learnt that the team is larger and that there is a little more to the club than the starting 11. The children had questions. How is a ball made? When dose a goal count? What was the tractor was doing on the pitch? The children visited the Astroturf pitch and tested how it felt in comparison to the grass pitch and finished the trip by drawing a picture of the stadium. When the children returned to the kindergarten they talked about their experience with some of the other members of staff and the other children and later coloured their drawings in.
